Health & Safety

At JLS, we take Health & Safety seriously and believe that a safe site is also a productive site.

Ensuring a healthy and safe work environment means giving the highest priority to the application of good practice and compliance with legal requirements and requirements and recognised codes of conduct – something we pride ourselves on.

We are in the process of development of a bespoke Health & Safety iPad app to improve the monitoring and reporting of site conditions.

Our operatives receive site inductions and attend pre-start meetings for all relevant Health & Safety information, and carry CSCS, PASMA and IPAF qualifications, whilst our Site Supervision team hold the CITB SSSTS qualification, and our Management team have the full 5 day CITB SMSTS qualification. Our Site Management and Supervision teams produce photographic reports which are issued to our client’s site team as an objective record.

All JLS operatives hold Emergency First Aid Training and are Face Fit Tested for the necessary RPE. We also aim to train all of our operatives in Site Environmental Awareness. All of our staff and contractors are entered into our in-house training matrix for further training of NVQ’s that might be required. Health & Safety forms a Key Performance Indicator.

We carry out regular risk assessments for all of our procedures, and Health & Safety training is provided for any task deemed to be a Health & Safety risk. We work closely alongside our Health & Safety advisor, Bill Sowerbutts of Arksafe Limited, along with our in-house Health & Safety team.
